If you only look at 2020 through the events that have taken place, you’ll miss it.
But if you look at the bigger picture.. you’ll see.
This wasn’t a wasted year. It wasn’t a year that lacked purpose.
Because you and I, we are different from this year. There is a “pre-2020” us that simply didn’t know what we know now.
If it weren’t for 2020, we wouldn’t have been forced to grow like we did. We were stretched and made stronger.
We wouldn’t be so aware of our priorities.
We may not appreciate our loved ones and our time together quite as much as we do.
And moving forward, I honestly believe we will appreciate everything more.
Fresh air, music, community, all of it.
2020 has helped many of us appreciate simplicity, and drop the things that were getting in the way of our joy.
Don’t get me wrong, this year has in many ways, felt like such a disappointment on so many levels. And for some it’s been truly heartbreaking. 2020 will leave its mark on us.
But we won’t be the same after this.. and in some ways, that’s not a bad thing.
I hope we never forget what we learned this year.
Because this year contained so many lessons. It wasn’t a waste.
My hope and prayers are that we take the important stuff from 2020 and use it to make the years to come even more meaningful.
Even more beautiful.
Even more filled with love.
Because if there is one thing that stuck out in 2020, it’s that love is still the answer and it really is what keeps us going.
