He left Heaven for us.
It’s easy to forget that part.
Sometimes we mistakenly believe Jesus “began” the day of His conception or birth.
No, Jesus was with God from the beginning.
This is significant for a million reasons, but one thing we often overlook is the sacrifice He made coming to earth.
Jesus was in Heaven. He was in perfect harmony. A place where suffering and sadness doesn’t exist. A place where He rightfully belonged.
The most stunning place, that even the most beautiful parts of earth couldn’t come close to comparing to.
He was in Heaven. Perfect Heaven.
And then He left Heaven for us.
He left the greatest place to come to this broken, deprived and dark earth.
He chose to leave Heaven, and come here as an innocent baby.
To grow into a man who would suffer the greatest suffering of all time.
He chose us, along with the most horrific humiliation and torture one could endure, rather than staying in Heaven.
Because He loved us so much.
Because He wanted to give us a chance to experience Heaven, too.
It’s easy to overlook. It’s easy to forget.
But we shouldn’t.
Because each day we fall short, and each time we miss the mark, we can remember the baby in Bethlehem who changed everything.
We can remember the God who ever so humbly become a human so that we could be saved, which we could never do on our own.
We need to remember He chose to leave Heaven, knowing full well how rough it would be.
