There isn’t Always a Purpose for Pain, But God can Make Purpose Out of It.

“There’s a reason for everything.”

You’ve heard the phrase.

It’s said with well intention, but it’s often not received that way.

Sometimes I want to look at people and reply... “is there though? Is there really a reason WHY something terrible happened?

Because when a parent loses their child, or when someone is abused, or really in any other heartbreaking situation, I have a hard time believing that God planned it because he thought it was “purposeful”.

Actually, I just simply don’t believe that at all.

This world is broken, and therefore suffering will happen.

It’s so easy to be a grieving person and wonder what you did to deserve the pain, or maybe what you didn’t do.

Friend, if you are experiencing great pain in this time, please know that God is not smiling about it.

He did not throw terrible things into your life to test you, punish you or use you as an example.

But He also won’t just leave you where you are, either.

Although there may not be a reason for the pain itself, God absolutely can and will make purpose out of it.

The pain may not be from Him, but He can take it in His hands and do something with it.

What this means is, the suffering you endure is not the end of the story.

It means He can use it.

Redeem it.

Change the world with it.

So next time you hear someone say, “there is a purpose for everything”, remember what’s actually true is that the suffering you endured may have crushed God’s heart, too.

But He can make purpose from anything.. including our pain.

He is our Redeemer.
