To My Kids: What I want You to Remember as You Follow Jesus.

My sweet children,

There are a lot of mixed messages out there about our main man, Jesus.

It’s hard to know what to believe, and it can sometimes feel so difficult to stand in those beliefs.

There are a few things I wanted to share with you about being a Jesus follower that I hope will help:

Following Jesus does not mean you will live an easy life.

He never said He would take all our problems away. In fact, you might endure problems BECAUSE you follow Him.

He did guarantee though, that we would never go through hard times alone. And I promise you, He is worth the backlash and the fight.

You can be friends with people who don’t believe in Jesus.

In fact, I hope you develop relationships with all kinds of people, and that you’ll love them the same as you would anyone else.

Maybe my sweet child, you can even be a light to them and show them who Jesus is.

That being said, it’s important you have people in your life to help guide you in your faith, people who will pray with you and remind you of God’s truth.

The world and popular culture isn’t going to like or celebrate your faith.

You won’t get a pat on the back from society for loving Jesus. Some people will think you‘re weird. That’s ok.

Some may assume you are judgmental, or naive. It’s ok they think that, but it doesn’t make it true. Love these people anyway. Keep your chin up and remember the only opinion that matters is your Creator’s.

You are going to question God at times.

You are going to wonder how such terrible things can happen and wonder where He is.

Don’t be ashamed to have questions, He can handle them. He isn’t scared of our doubts, so bring them to Him.

You see, my babies, this life is hard. Yet, you’ll hear people say “God is good all the time”, and it’s true.

He can make a way out.

He can heal.

He can redeem.

But even if something could kill you?

Then you’ll know where you are going after this life, and it’s so much better there.

Life is better with Him. I promise. I’ve tried it without Him and even though it might look “more fun”, it isn’t. You’ll find the truest joy you’ve ever known the closer to Him you get.

Oh, and one more thing. The only person who will ever love you more than me is Jesus.

Which is impossible to fathom, but it’s true. I pray you’ll always know that, because it’s His love that transforms our hearts like nothing else.

Don’t ever let anyone take or shake your faith and relationship with Jesus, dear one. It’s the only thing in this world that lasts beyond it.

Love,

Mom
